You may have heard of flat speakers, but have you listened to them? None has the detailed full-range performance or the design heritage of a Monitor Audio SoundFrame speaker. To create the phenomenal SoundFrame range our engineers found a way to build our famously natural sound quality into an in-wall cabinet with the simplest of installation methods.
The cabinet sits in the wall cavity where it is secured with pre-fixed brackets, while connecting cables run through the cavity and connect via the through-hole front terminal connection. This creates a seamless wire-free look with unique installation convenience.
SoundFrame 2’s proportions are akin to a longer centre-channel speaker for visual harmony with thin TVs or projection screens. However, it can also be used ‘in portrait’ to flank larger displays. The intrinsic flexibility of the pivoting IDC driver module means that SoundFrame models will keep their brilliant sound at any angle according to room design.
Match the cabinet to room décor by choosing from exquisite high gloss white or black lacquered frames, or by applying your own colour to a ready primed frame. Or, for even more precise coordination, choose from our exclusive range of coloured or printed grille cloth designs. With such a versatile choice of frame and colour options available, the SoundFrame models are designed to blend perfectly with any interior and precision engineered to replace your old speakers with the most discreet high-performance music and movie system you've ever seen or heard.

The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats.
The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.
The in-ceiling and in-wall LCR models employ a unique pivoting Inverted Dual Concentric midrange/tweeter module offering up to 18 degrees of play. This allows for the speakers to be discreetly positioned and the sound to be directed toward the listening zone by pivoting the IDC driver module to maximize performance. With the IDC module installed, these architectural speakers become true 3-way designs, offering superior performance and flexibility over typical 2-way or fixed angle speakers.
Within the proprietary IDC module an inverted 4" midrange driver provides superior dispersion while enabling the midrange cone and tweeter dome assembly to be set as far forward as possible, allowing a clear acoustic 'sighting' of the desired listening zone and reducing undesirable diffraction effects. It's impossible to avoid diffraction effects from conventional two-way designs, which locate the bass driver 75mm (3") to 150mm (6") behind the speaker grille.
The RST cone profile comprises a radial pattern of surface dimples. Our simulations and listening tests have proved that the dimples significantly increase cone rigidity allowing C-CAM/RST cones to resist mechanical bending forces, which can twist the shape of lesser cones and produce distorted sound. The strengthening effect of the RST dimples means that we can use thinner, lighter more responsive C-CAM cones, providing speed and accuracy but offering greatly reduced distortion. The RST dimples also help to displace standing waves that can propagate on the cone's surface.
