The Bronze Age Returns

“An equally strong element in Monitor’s corporate identity is a laudable commitment to value… Nowhere is this commitment more obvious than in the firm’s new “entry level” Bronze BX-series speakers”.

“Bronze BX models frankly do not look or sound like “entry level” products at all.”

“Bronze BX models offer an unusual degree of overall refinement and especially sonic coherency for their price - a quality that I’ve rarely heard so well executed in speakers in this price range.”

“The imaging characteristics of the Bronze models are astonishingly good.”

“The Bronze BX models sound more like the Silver RX range than not and for only a fraction of the price meaning that the Bronze BX offers superb sonic value for money.”

“The Bronzes conveyed qualities of spaciousness and dynamic expansiveness as few small systems can.”

“The sound of the vibes, as presented by the Bronze BX system, is simply gorgeous.”

“It is, quite simply, a brilliant success. The longer you listen to this system, the more “right” it sounds, and for not a lot of money.”

Hi-Fi Choice Magazine's BX5 Review

The Monitor Audio BX5 displays it's all round ability in the most recent HiFi Choice magazine group test, earning the title of "HiFi Choice Recommended".

David Price said “It throws out masses of detail, yet really rocks when called upon to do so. It's a great all rounder”.

Bought a pair of BX5's and BX1's along with the matching centre speaker, coupled them up with an Onkyo TX-NR 626.

The sound quality is incredible given that these are supposedly 'entry level'...Enough said!

I bought the BX2's way back in December 2011. Then I had Marantz separates (PM6003/CD6003). Great sound. But I recently upgraded the Marantz for Arcam. FMJ A19 & CD17. Both are excellent but I felt that I could do better than my old BX2's. So, after comparing the BX5's with Dali Zensor 5 I am now the proud owner of a pair of Monitor Audio BX5's in walnut finish. It was an easy choice, The MA is way ahead of the Dali for sound. I found the MA had amazing bass and treble and was just more listenable. The Dali being too bright for my ears. But the point I am making here is that this is the second pair of Monitor Audio speakers I have ever bought and again I am more than satisfied. Though I have only been using them for a week I feel that they sound great (if better when run in then I can't wait). So, Monitor Audio thank you for a fantastic pair of floorstanders that I will enjoy for years to come.

They are so elegant, I thought that I should buy a subwoofer to fill the bass, but they are amazing on the bass zone, being so stylish.

This C-CAM stuff is an amazing material. Not to mention the quality of manufacturing. Even the packaging couldn't be neater.

The level of after sales service is superb. I own a full set of Bronze speakers in a 7.1 setup and my friends are so jealous.

Amazing sound quality and service. What more could you ask for from a manufacturer? Go Monitor Audio!

At the first time I was unsure to buy these loudspeakers because I only have a 100 watts av receiver it was Denon 1910, but because I have nice experience with BX2, finally I decided to buy it. Using denon 1910 I still can enjoy the sound details and the spacious staging, but somehow my av receiver not powerful enough to drive this loudspeakers, especially the bass driver, later on I upgraded my receiver to Denon 4310. This AVR liberated all potential that BX5 has. I'm very happy with these loudspeakers. Now my BX5s have become more enjoyable the high, mid and low sound frequencies are mixed proportionally. The best thing that I love most is the sound details. These are simply great loudspeakers and I love it. Thanks MA. regards from your Indonesian fan :)

I bought the BX5s a little while ago. They replace my old Wharfedale Modus 5 pair who move upstairs. After a good auditioning in the store with my own music I decided to go for them. At home they were connected to my Technics A700MK2 amplifier and the sound was awful. It made me want to turn down the volume or even stop the music. There was an agressive sharp edge to the sound coming from my BX5s. Maybe they still had to be burned in. But I also ordered a new amplifier - the Yamaha A-S500. Once the BX5s and the Yamaha were paired things got so much better. The sound got so much more space. So in my opinion the BX5s are fantastic but I experienced that you have to be careful with matching them to other material as an amplifier. I have the impression the BX5;s need a somewhat more powerful amplifier.

Monitor Audio? More like Monitor Perfection. Just changed from B & W 603 S2's to MA BX 5's. They are simply superb, especially at the price & so much smaller. Don't waste time reading reviews & comparing the BX 5's with other makes - just invest in these. Was looking at Rega, Neat, Castle & Kudos. Some of these are over double the price of the BX 5's, but sound no better. Really pleased.

I have the BX5's with a Quad 606 & 405 pre-am combo and mainly listen to them through my Linn LP12. Even matched with this 'old' system they produce an excellent sound stage with real depth. They perform well listening at all volume levels and above all else, I really enjoy listening to music again.

These BX5 speakers are amazing, very well built, with an accurate almost warm sound at all levels, with a range of different music, movies & gaming. After previously owning a pair of Mission MX3's I thought that they could not be beaten in the same price arena, but I was wrong, very wrong. Well done Monitor Audio!!

My system is in the budget area of Hi-fi. ARCAM CD73. ROTEL RA05 Se and Monitor Audio BR5. My BR5's are nearly 4 years old now and I can't praise them enough. I could go on about the stereo image, the timing and pace and the amount of detail they uncover from any recording, but what still pleases me is the build quality, the fit and finish is still as good as the day I purchased them. I have owned many quality speakers over the years - Mission, Wharfdale to name a few, all of which had problems with finish. The BR5s not only sound good of course but they are built to last. Thank you M.A.

Radius 270

  • New 4” C-CAM® bass driver - Radius features all new bass drivers with concave cone profiles, introduced by our top-of-the-range Platinum speakers and applied subsequently to Gold GX.  Extensive research and FEA modelling have allowed us to perfect the relationship between the new radiating diaphragm and its motor design, introducing larger motor sizes and voice coils for increased excursion, higher power capability and reduced distortion.
  • New C-CAM gold dome tweeter - optimised to deliver the finest and widest performance within the compact Radius cabinets. It benefits from a more efficient rear-venting design, releasing air trapped and compressed at the back of the tweeter dome, and guiding it around the drive assembly to a rear-loading chamber.
  • HiVe®II port design - Straight from Platinum’s design blueprint, the HiVe reflex port makes its Radius debut. It’s shaped to have the same effect on airflow as a gun-barrel on a bullet. Rifled grooves inside the port help to accelerate the flow and reduce turbulence, so air moves in and out of the port more efficiently, for a faster more dynamic bass response.
  • Single through-bolt driver fixing provides mechanical de-coupling and enhanced mid-band clarity and resolution. The through-bolts also act as rigid cross bracing to give a very solid non-resonant cabinet.
  • Front and rear ported reflex design
